Many years have passed since the fall of the kingdom of Sol-Ar and the Seto family’s exodus to the far south of the continent. Hidden deep within the forest, the former king and queen have made a new home for their family, as well as any others looking to escape the turmoil of the outside world. Treating this day like any other, their son ventures deeper into the forest on one of his usual hunting trips to gather food for the village, but little does he know that his peaceful way of life will soon be forever changed.

The Legend of Kyyden #1 is pretty interesting story. It’s a coming of age tale, with an establishe history in a fantasy world. The story places the reader years following the aftermath of the fall of a kingdom. Dimitri is a 17 year old with no idea of the tumultuous history of his family. Unfortunately, the King and QUeen do not get the luxury of time to teach their son about any of it. The enemies of the Seto family have found their hidden village in the forest and they came looking for more of their blood. I would us the metaphor of “diamond in the rough” to describe this comic book. You can see the storytelling techniques from start to finish. The creators do take advantage of the medium to great lenghts: theres compressed, and decompressed story in different pages, good use of many camera angles and I even saw one of my my favorite staples in comics the De Lucca effect. So as far as knowing how to tell stories in a comic book format, the creators 100% get it. My only critique would be the art itself. It needs a little bit more refining. Especially in the details that go unnoticed at times. Like the empty backgrounds and the shading. I understand empty brackgounds can be an artistic choice to highlight a character on a scene, but I’m not a fan personally. Especially when its overused. The color saturation is pretty high and it does make the panels look flat. I would help to add some contrast here. With all that being said, I believe this is a good story overall and I wish this team continues to work together and improve each upon their craft. Best of Luck!

The Legend of Kyyden is a great story, succinctly presenting a vivid world full of complex characters. The sincere ethics and air of acceptance in the world created by Wolfe can help us as we navigate tumultuous times. I can’t wait to see what’s next in this story!

A great new fantasy epic in the making! Great art, an engaging story with cool characters, and some great action scenes. Eclipse (basically a medieval Darth Vader) is also a menace! Can’t wait to see what happens next!

Well paced story that sets up a new fantasy riddled with a war torn history. The protagonist is well developed and looking forward to chapter 2.
